I find it amusing that the medical term for the clothes worn on hospital wards is “nursing scrubs“. It just sounds like a funny term and I can’t help doing that 8-year-old giggle whenever I hear it. According to the band TLC, “A scrub is a guy who thinks he’s fly”. And TLC certainly didn’t want no scrubs. But it may surprise you that there are certain people out there for whom scrubs are exactly what they are looking for.
I’ve spent quite some time over the years working in various different hospitals and you would be forgiven for thinking that each hospital has their own unique set of uniforms. This is not quite the case. Because of the state of the healthcare systems nowadays, there are so many different agencies involved with supplying staff to Britain’s hospitals. Each of these agencies have their own personalised nurse uniforms, so that on busier days you may see 30 different nurses and never see the same uniform twice.
So it occurred to me that the people making these must be raking it in. And sure enough, I browsed the web and came across a site that offers personalised, bespoke scrub clothing and even sell a range of trendy jewellery and accessories which are designed to be compatible with health and safety guidelines.
What a strange world we live in…
